The Italy forward only joined the Saints last summer for a club record €15.1m (£12.8m), but was on loan to Juventus from January.

Scoring just one Serie A goal, the Bianconeri opted not to take up their option on the 28-year-old.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Osvaldo is on his way back to Italy once more, but this time on loan to Inter.

The deal would include a buy-out clause worth €11m should the Nerazzurri want to make his move permanent.

Born in Buenos Aires, Osvaldo is well-travelled, playing for Huracan, Atalanta” data-scaytid=”22″>Atalanta, Lecce, Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”24″>Fiorentina, Bologna, Espanyol, Roma, Southampton and Juventus.

He was left out of Italy’s squad for the 2014 World Cup due to poor form.
