Roma hitman Pablo Daniel Osvaldo reveals “Zinedine Zidane wants me at Real Madrid,” explains the Erik Lamela brawl and why he has a statue of Mick Jagger.

The striker spoke to Argentine television about his career, including the move from Espanyol to Roma last summer.

“It was an enormous step for me to join the Giallorossi. La Liga is easier, but I have to say I am very happy at Roma.

“One day I’d love to play in Argentina and my dream is Boca Juniors,” said the forward with dual citizenship.

“I did read of interest from Real Madrid, but haven’t received any offer yet. I can say, however, that in a charity match Zidane told me he’d like to see me play in Madrid…”

Things in Rome have not been entirely smooth sailing for Osvaldo, who received several red cards and was suspended for a locker room brawl with teammate Erik Lamela.

“Some Italian players think they are Hollywood stars, but I was surprised by how down to earth Francesco Totti is. He is a living legend at Roma, a very normal lad and a lot of fun.

“The thing with Lamela was just the passion of the moment. I can be really annoying when it comes to this, as I always want the ball and admit I am as egotistical as most strikers.

“This incident, though, really was nothing. If I had Lamela’s left foot then I wouldn’t have passed the ball either. It was nothing personal, as it could’ve happened with Totti too…”

Osvaldo was born and raised in Argentina, but opted to represent the nation of his forebears and plays his international football for Italy since the Under-21 level.

“I had many doubts. I spoke to my family and friends. I waited for my chance with Argentina, but realised there were so many great strikers ahead of me that it was going to be very difficult to play.

“I wanted to think about it a little more, but it required an immediate response and I said yes to Italy. It’s a shame I am not at Euro 2012, but I hope to be at the World Cup.”

Osvaldo also revealed a rather curious taste in his home furnishings.

“I have a statue of Mick Jagger in my house. I’d love to have a rock band! I also have a Mini car painted in Argentina’s colours with Diego Maradona’s face on one of the doors. I can’t use it in Rome, as those are also the colours of Lazio! If I were ever to meet Maradona, I’d give him that car as a gift.”
