Olympiacos are currently leading several clubs across Europe in a race to sign former Everton defender and Colombia international Yerry Mina from Fiorentina this month.
Mina joined La Viola as a free agent after a five-year spell on Merseyside with the Toffees. He had originally joined Everton from Barcelona in a €30m deal back in 2018.
However, Mina’s time in Tuscany has been hampered by injuries. Since the beginning of the 2023-24 season, he has only managed 40 minutes of Serie A action, split across four substitute appearances, two in November and two in mid-December.
According to reports from Tuttomercatoweb on Tuesday evening, both Olympiacos and Besiktas are interested in making a move for the 29-year-old defender, but it is the Greek side who are currently in the more advanced position.
Mina signed a one-year contract with Fiorentina in the summer, but the club hold an option to extend his stay by a further two years.
For this reason, Fiorentina are hoping to collect a transfer fee if Mina leaves this month, which would also provide the club’s accounts with a useful capital gain, given that he joined for free in the summer.
TMW also report that Fiorentina would not look to bring in a replacement for Mina in January if he were to be sold.
