Former Italy international Angelo Ogbonna suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during West Ham’s 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

West Ham have confirmed the centre-back, who joined the Hammers in July 2015, has been ruled out with an ACL injury after the last match in the Premier League.

The Hammers climbed to third in the league with the 3-2 win against Jürgen Klopp’s men and Ogbonna had played all 11 league games this term, scoring once in the process.

Sky Sports revealed the Irons have confirmed the Italian defender, who has played at Torino and Juventus in Serie A, suffered an ACL injury during the match at the London Stadium.

The report highlights the defender has ‘already started his recovery programme at Rush Green’.

The 33-year-old appeared in 86 Serie A games before leaving Italy and has established himself as an important player in London, but is now ruled out with a serious injury.
