The FIGC have officially announced the appointment of Andrea Soncin as the new head coach of Italy Women.

The Azzurre were previously managed by Milena Bertolini, who spent six years in the role from 2017 to last month, resigning after the teamโ€™s disastrous Womenโ€™s World Cup performance.

Bertolini did well to guide Italy to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 2019 but failed to replicate that success in either Euro 2022 or the recent World Cup in Oceania, both of which saw the team exit in the group stage.

As announced by the FIGC, Soncin has now been chosen the lead the Italy Women squad, leaving his role with Venezia in order to take on the job.

The 45-year-old has spent his entire coaching career with the Venetian side, working as a technical coach and head of the Under-17 and Under-19 sides. He also filled in as the caretaker manager for the first team on a handful of occasions.
