Roma have officially sold Antonio Sanabria to Real Betis for €7.5m, but receive half of any future transfer fee and have a buy-back option.

The complicated deal for the striker was announced simultaneously by the two clubs.

“AS Roma can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Spanish club Real Betis Balompié for the transfer of Toni Sanabria for a fee of €7.5 million,” read a Giallorossi statement.

“AS Roma will also receive 50% of any future transfer fee should Sanabria, full name Arnaldo Antonio Sanabria Ayala, be sold by Betis.

“The deal also includes a clause whereby AS Roma can re-sign Sanabria at any time in the next three seasons. The buy-back fee is set at €11m for the first two seasons and €14.5m for the third season.”

The 20-year-old Paraguay international spent last season on loan at Sporting Gijon, scoring 11 goals in 29 Liga games.
