Fiorentina have officially announced Franck Ribery will not stay at the Artemio Franchi, as his contract expired yesterday.

After two seasons with the Viola, the French winger had expressed his desire to stay in Florence, where Vincenzo Italiano has been appointed the new head coach.

Reports in Italy have suggested Ribery was in talks to prolong his stay, but the talks have not been successful, and the club thanked the former Bayern Munich star for his time in Toscana.

With the message on social media, the club confirmed Ribery is no longer a Fiorentina player and the former Marseille hero will have to look for a new club this summer.

The 38-year-old arrived at the Viola in August 2019 on a free transfer and has played 51 competitive games since his move to Italy.

Ribery contributed five goals and 10 assists during his time with Fiorentina but struggled with a series of injury setbacks over the last two years.
