Cesare Prandelli has confirmed that he has put pen to paper on a new two-year contract, to stay on as Italy Coach until June 2016.

The 56-year-old had made clear a couple of months ago that he had reached agreement on the deal with the Italian Football Federation, but signing the contract had been delayed.

But, on from FIGC President Giancarlo Abete reporting in at Coverciano on Monday for Italy’s second week of training ahead of the World Cup, Prandelli has now officially put pen to paper.

“Sorry for the delay,” the CT began to reporters he had kept waiting at today’s Press conference.

“But it was precisely due to the fact that we were just signing the contract.

“Yes, yes, it is official. Until the European Championships.

“Now we will not go into the details, we currently have an objective that is too important. From September we will talk about projects and programs. The availability [for the renewal] has been there for two months, this period was used to formulate the contract.

“The Federation also wanted to involve me with regards to image rights – the delay in signing has been down to these reasons.”
