It’s suggested that when the performance-related bonuses and above all the commission for agent Mino Raiola are included, the deal will have eventually cost United in the region of €140m (£119m).

The cost of the move is particularly remarkable considering Juve snapped Pogba up for only a development fee of around €800,000 when his contract with Manchester United expired in July 2012.

“Manchester United is delighted to announce that Paul Pogba has completed his transfer from Italian club Juventus. Paul joins on a five-year contract, with the option to extend for a further year,” read a formal statement.

“Paul, 23, has been with Juventus for four seasons, making 124 appearances and scoring 28 goals. He joined the Bianconeri from United in 2012.”

He flew out for his medical on Monday after months of speculation and after midnight UK time Manchester United released a video teasing the #Pogback change.

Agent Mino Raiola also tweeted: "The Man is United" while Pogba posted a video of his Bianconeri exploits to the sounds of the Juventus anthem sung by fans.

"You are in my heart, always. Thank you again for everything," said the Frenchman at the end of the clip.

"Thanks Juventus and all Juventini. Goodbye means nothing, it's the time we spent together that matters," he wrote on Twitter.

The 23-year-old has developed into one of the world’s most promising midfielders during his time at Juve, winning four consecutive Serie A titles, two editions of the Coppa Italia and Italian Super Cup.

The Bianconeri also reached the Champions League Final in 2015.

It is a return to Old Trafford for Pogba, who joined their youth academy from Le Havre in July 2009, but barely broke into the senior squad under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Adidas and rapper Stormzy have already released a viral video with the France international in a Manchester United jersey. It was accidentally leaked on Monday evening before being removed from Twitter and Facebook.
