Inter midfielder Radja Nainggolan has officially returned to Cagliari on a season-long loan.

A statement on Cagliari’s website confirms Nainggolan has re-joined the club on a dry loan, without an option to buy.

The 31-year-old previously spent four seasons with the Rossoblu, scoring seven goals in 137 appearances between 2010 and 2014.

“It didn’t take him long to win over the Rossoblu fans: his warrior spirit, his determination, his desire to lead the team to victory,” continued the statement.

“It didn’t take him long to win over the Rossoblu fans: his warrior spirit, his determination, his desire to lead the team to victory,” continued the statement.

“Always on the front line, ready to retaliate, blow by blow, to uproot balls from the feet of stunned opponents, who hadn’t even noticed him, in pure ‘ninja’ style.

“And then ballistic prowess: like the goal he scored at Sampdoria, a marvel of strength and technique.

“A player who drags his team, an example for his teammates… Now Nainggolan is a Cagliari player once more, ready to put his great strength, character and international experience at the disposal of the team.”

He only moved to Inter from Roma last summer, helping the Nerazzurri qualify repeat Champions League qualification, but was deemed surplus to requirements by new boss Antonio Conte.

The Belgian has also had to deal with his Sardinian wife Claudia Lai being diagnosed with cancer.
