Roberto Gagliardini has officially signed a one-year contract with Monza after leaving Inter as a free agent.

The midfielder put pen to paper on the deal that runs to June 2024, with an option to renew if certain conditions are met during the campaign.

He remains in the Lombardy region, as he was born in Bergamo and came up through the Inter youth academy, then had spells at Vicenza, Cesena and Spezia before the transfer to Inter for a total €22.5m in 2017.

The 29-year-old was a free agent after his contract with Inter was allowed to run down on June 30.

Gagliardini has seven senior caps for Italy under his belt and had also been linked with newly-promoted Genoa, but Monza were always the favourites.

He leaves Inter after 16 goals and nine assists in 190 competitive appearances for the Nerazzurri and was on the bench for the Champions League Final against Manchester City.
