Milan defender Leo Duarte has officially joined İstanbul Başakşehir on a permanent deal.

The Rossoneri have confirmed the defender’s sale on their website with an official statement.

“AC Milan can confirm that Léonardo Campos Duarte da Silva has joined İstanbul Başakşehir on a permanent basis,” the Rossoneri said.

“The Club would like to wish Léo all the best for the future in his personal and professional life.”

Duarte spent the last season and a half on loan at the Turkish club, collecting 54 appearances with the club.

According to Calciomercato.com, İstanbul Başakşehir didn’t activate their €5.5m option to buy and managed to negotiate a lower fee with the Serie A champions.

Duarte had moved to the Stadio Meazza on a permanent €10m deal from Flamengo in 2019 but struggled with playing time, collecting just nine appearances across all competitions with the Diavoli.

Milan are still planning to sign a new centre-back in the summer after missing out on Sven Botman who has joined Newcastle.

Japhet Tanganga, Abdou Diallo and Francesco Acerbi have been linked with a move to the Stadio Meazza in the summer.
