Kostas Manolas has officially signed a new contract with Roma that expires in June 2022. “I am very happy, we all agreed.”

The Greek international had been a target for the likes of Zenit, Inter, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.

His previous deal was due to expire in June 2019 and he announced the new contract live on the club’s Facebook page.

“I am very happy. The director showed me that the club wants me to stay, I want to stay too, we’ve got a good rapport and fortunately we all agreed.

“I renewed to 2022, I am ready to give my all for this team and also hope to win something, as it’s important to win.”

The 26-year-old was signed from Olympiacos in 2014 and there are reports the salary is now worth €3m per year.

It is also rumoured that there’s a release clause worth €37m.

“We are very pleased with this contract extension,” said Roma sporting director Monchi.

“Both the player and the club wanted to reach an agreement, and now we will go forward together, aiming for some important targets.”
