Lazio have officially sold striker Libor Kozak to Aston Villa, as the Czech international signed a four-year deal.

The 24-year-old had always been a bit-part player at the Olimpico, coming into his own in the Europa League where he was top scorer last season with 10 goals.

Villa confirmed the transfer deadline day move this evening and Kozak is contracted to the English club until June 2017. It's believed the transfer was worth £5m.

“We've been on this one for the last few months, trying to bring him to the Club, so I'm delighted to get it across the line,” manager Paul Lambert told avfc.co.uk.

“I'm really happy to be at Aston Villa and I’m ready for this new step in my career,” said Czech Republic international hitman Kozak.

“I hope it's a good step for me and also for Villa because everything is about the team. This is a big club, a very historic club with a fantastic fanbase and, for me, this is really important.

“Playing with such a strong player as Miroslav Klose, I hope I was able to learn something from him and I also hope, with this experience, to help improve Aston Villa. I’m really looking forward to this new step and challenge.”

Kozak had been at Lazio since July 2008, including a spell on loan at Brescia, scoring 22 goals in 79 games for the Aquile.
