Lazio have officially extended Italy international full-back Manuel Lazzari’s contract to June 2027.

The right-back turns 29 next week and his current deal was all set to run until June 2024.

He was forced to pull out of international duty with Italy this month due to a calf injury.

Lazzari joined Lazio from SPAL in the summer of 2019 in a deal worth €15m.

A late developer, he spent most of his career in the lower levels of Italian football, only making his Serie A debut in 2017 with SPAL at the age of 23.

He made his Italy debut a year later and now has three senior caps.

So far in the current campaign, Lazzari has contributed one assist in 16 competitive games between Serie A and the Europa League.

Lazzari initially played as a wing-back under Simone Inzaghi, but switched to right-back when Maurizio Sarri introduced a 4-3-3 formation.
