The French striker didn’t train with the rest of the team ahead of last weekend’s clash against Valladolid and will sit out Real Madrid’s Champions League meeting against Atalanta on Wednesday.
Benzema has scored 17 goals in 28 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
Atalanta host Real Madrid at the Gewiss Stadium for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 on Wednesday with the reverse fixture that will be played in Madrid on March 16.
