Milan forward Olivier Giroud has tested positive for coronavirus. ‘The player is fine but must remain in fiduciary isolation’.

The Rossoneri have announced the striker, who scored a brace against Cagliari ahead of the international break, has tested positive for COVID-19.

The news comes as a blow for coach Stefano Pioli, who is currently without injured Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

“AC Milan announce that Olivier Giroud tested positive for a molecular test carried out at home,” the club wrote in a statement.

“The local health authorities were immediately informed. The player is fine but must remain in fiduciary isolation.

“It should be noted that Olivier has not had contact with the rest of the team since the championship game against Cagliari.”

  1. Oh my God, it has started!

The story of last season all over again. Krunic injured and Giroud Covid positive … who’s next?

  2. This shouldn’t be surprising. Vaccinated or not, people/players may eventually test positive for the virus. In this case, the teams don’t play until next weekend, so he has time to recover. The crux will be if teams have the necessary depth to cover player absence.

  3. Even if he recovers, he will lose something form-wise. There’s no guarantee players recover the same, like Belotti.

  4. We will start playing LEAO as a striker now, same rubbish different days, too early for this rubbish. Imagine you are playing Juve, Inter or Napoli at the crucial stage of the season, a striker is injured and the other has COVID who will play? LEAO or PELEGRINI? rubbish
