Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci has recovered from COVID, the Bianconeri announce.

Bonucci tested positive for COVID at the beginning of the month upon returning from international duty with Italy.

Several members of the Azzurri staff and seven more players tested positive too.

“Leonardo Bonucci carried out two controls with a molecular test (swab) for Covid-19 with negative results,” Juventus’ official statement reads.

“Leonardo Bonucci carried out two controls with a molecular test (swab) for Covid-19 with negative results,” Juventus’ official statement reads.

“The player has therefore recovered and is no longer subjected to the isolation regime and will join the team tomorrow afternoon at the JTC.”

The defender has now recovered and will need to undergo a new medical test provided by the COVID protocol before returning to train with the rest of the team.

Juventus sealed a 3-1 win over Genoa on Sunday and will face Atalanta at the Gewiss Stadium next weekend.

At the moment, Federico Bernardeschi is the only Juventus player positive for COVID.
