Walter Novellino insists Maurizio Zamparini “is doing everything to save Palermo”.

The Coach was sacked by the Rosanero this week, with Davide Ballardini returning to replace him in the ninth change this season.

However, despite being given just four games on the Barbera bench, the former Sampdoria boss bears no ill-will toward the club President.

“All I can say is that I was unlucky at Palermo,” Novellino told TuttoJuve.

However, despite being given just four games on the Barbera bench, the former Sampdoria boss bears no ill-will toward the club President.

“All I can say is that I was unlucky at Palermo,” Novellino told TuttoJuve.

“I have to thank Zamparini for the opportunity, when you don’t win it’s the Coach who pays for it.

“Zamparini? He’s bitter, disappointed by the performance of the team. He’s doing everything to save Palermo.”

The Sicilian side face League leaders Juventus in Turin on Sunday, but Novellino thinks that could actually help them.

“Juve don’t give anything to anyone. Palermo will try to bring home an important result. The team is lacking organisation, they’re a little bit afraid.

“Maybe they can find some calm by playing away from home.”
