Nottingham Forest are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Bologna to sign midfielder Nicolas Dominguez in a move that will also see Swiss international Remo Freuler move in the other direction.

According to multiple sources, a verbal agreement has been reached and the two clubs are now discussing the final, minor details of the move.

It is believed that Dominguez could fly to England on Wednesday for his medical examinations and contract signing.

The Argentine, who has earned 11 caps for his nation, is expected to sign a five-year contract at the City Ground.

As well as a cash sum, Bologna are set to be compensated with the arrival of former Atalanta midfielder Freuler, who only left Bergamo to join Forest last summer.

The 31-year-old, who has six-and-a-half years’ worth of experience in Serie A, made 28 appearances during his first year in the Premier League, helping Forest survive a tight relegation battle in 2022-23.

Both Forest and Bologna are said to have reached personal agreements with Dominguez and Freuler respectively.
