Cracovia Coach Michał Probierz is “not surprised” by Krzysztof Piatek’s sensational start in Serie A, but concedes “Genoa did a great deal”.

The Polish striker signed for the Grifone this summer for only €4.5m, and has already scored 14 goals in eight games.

“I’m not surprised, Krzysztof is a top striker,” Probierz insisted, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.

“He has goals in his blood and a fantastic positional sense. Genoa did a great deal, with a really quick operation.

“Piatek has done well to adapt to Italian football quickly, and now he’s worth a lot more than a couple of months ago.

“We received a lot of offers for Piatek from clubs across Europe, but it was crucial for him to choose the right team to develop at.

“We were all happy with the agreement with Genoa, and time is proving that we found the ideal solution for ourselves, the player and obviously for the Rossoblu too.

“Piatek can go really far, Genoa is the right place for him to improve and fulfil his potential. Krzysztof has the same characteristics as [Robert] Lewandowski, but he’s a good seven years younger.

“I’m certain that, if he keeps being professional and avoids any serious injuries, he’ll become one of the best strikers in Europe.

“I’m surprised that the big clubs, with all the scouting they do, missed such a big talent in Poland.

“With all due respect for Genoa, the football elite must regret not having taken a shot on Piatek.”
