Azzurri Coach Antonio Conte brings back Gianluigi Buffon and confirms Eder, but midfielder Marco Verratti will start from the bench against England.

The former Juventus head has given a very direct answer to being asked about Italy's formation ahead of tomorrow's friendly in Turin against the Three Lions.

“Buffon will defend the goal, and the central defenders will be [Andrea] Ranocchia, [Giorgio] Chiellini and [Leonardo] Bonucci, with [Alessandro] Florenzi and [Matteo] Darmian on the flanks,” he said, in today's Press conference.

“The three midfielders will be [Marco] Parolo, [Mirko] Valdifiori, and [Roberto] Soriano,” continued Conte, with Verratti – who was handed Italy's number 10 shirt today – a notable omission.

“Our strikers are going to be Eder and [Graziano] Pellé.”

Conte was also asked how he felt about returning to Turin, and whether he expected more people to support him or to root against him.

“Returning to the Juventus Stadium will be a strong emotion for me. I made some indelible memories in this stadium.

“We'll have many on our side. There will be unity of intent whichever way you look at it.”
