Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis says he has no intention of holding a meeting with star striker Edinson Cavani about his future.

The Uruguayan international earlier this week asked for talks with ADL, but the owner insists none are necessary.

“There is no need for a face-to-face meeting because of the transfer clause in his contract,” De Laurentiis underlined.

“If there comes a time when a club brings to the table €63m then we will not be in a position to keep him.

“However, at the moment, nobody has called me to make an offer. There was a meeting with Manchester City, but we didn’t consider their bid high enough.

“If an offer arrives, good, if an offer is not forthcoming then Cavani will stay in Italy and new Napoli Coach Rafa Benitez, like everyone in Naples, will be very happy.”

The centre-forward, who could face Italy in the Confederations Cup on Sunday, is also wanted by Real Madrid and Chelsea.
