Liverpool duo Alberto Aquilani and Andy Carroll have been given a vote of confidence by their new manager Brendan Rodgers, meaning Milan’s interest may have to be shelved.
The Italian midfielder spent last season on loan with Milan but a permanent deal hasn’t yet been agreed, while the Rossoneri have also been linked with England international Carroll.

Both players have struggled during their time with Liverpool, but Rodgers is keen to get the best out of the pair upon their return to pre-season training with the Premier League club.
“I had a good chat with Alberto the other day,” Rodgers told Sky Sports News. “He’s a good guy and it obviously hasn’t quite worked out for him as of yet. But he’s a player that has got the qualities, the technical abilities, to play.”
Carroll also seems destined to stay despite impressing Silvio Berlusconi’s son Piersilvio during Euro 2012.
On the towering striker, Rodgers said: “He’s a good player, Andy. He will always be linked whether he was here or not.”
Regarding Milan’s alleged interest in taking Carroll on loan, the Liverpool manager claimed: “I haven’t heard anything from them at all.”
Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani has already said that Milan’s transfer dealings are done this summer, but loan deals for the Liverpool duo were interesting the Rossoneri due to their value for money.
