There were another 161 coronavirus deaths in Italy on Wednesday, but eight regions reported no new fatalities.

The eight regions in question are Sicily, Abruzzo, Umbria, Sardinia, Valle d’Aosta, Molise and Basilicata and Trentino-Alto Adige.

Elsewhere, the growth of positive cases has slowed down and more than 2,700 have recovered, with 2,377 less currently suffering from the virus.

As of Wednesday, there have been 227,364 positive tests of COVID-19 (+665), with 62,752 of them currently active (-2,377).

A total of 132,282 people have recovered (+2,771) and 32.330 have died.

Out of the 62,752 active cases, 52,542 are in self-isolation (+1,880), 9,624 are in hospital with symptoms (-367) and 676 are in intensive care (-40).

There have now been 3,171,719 tests, an increase of 67,195 since yesterday.
