Contrary to reports that Inter have signed preliminary documents to begin constructing a new stadium in the area of Assago, it has been revealed that no official contact has been made between the club and the municipality.

In a press release published by the municipality of Assago, administrators have claimed that the specific location of Inter’s prospective new home does not fall within their jurisdiction.

The statement read: “The municipal administration of Assago confirms that it has never been contacted by Inter for the proposed construction of the stadium, given that the intended location is not within the Assago area.”

Should the proposed plans for the new stadium begin to have a detrimental impact on the inhabitants, officials from the city have stated that they will do everything in their power to stop it.

“In the event that proposals to construct the stadium become concrete and if it causes repercussions on the viability in the Assago area, the municipal administration will activate all possible methods of defending its territory.”

Both Inter and Milan continue to look for a solution to their stadium conundrum and seem determined to leave the Stadio Meazza.
