Coach Davide Nicola has revealed that he “feels at home” in Genoa and has claimed he “firmly believes” the Rossoblu will stay up this campaign.
Nicola was appointed the new Genoa coach in December, when President Enrico Preziosi decided to sack Thiago Motta, and the former player returned to the Marassi for the third time.
He previously played six seasons for the Rossoblu, from 1995-98 and again from 1999-2002, has revealed that he “feels good” in Genoa.

“For me, Genoa has always been something special,” he said during a Q & A with the fans on social media. “I feel at home here. It’s an environment that makes me feel good and it’s natural to represent the club.”
Nicola helped lift Genoa out of the relegation zone in Serie A, where they are currently above 18th placed Lecce on goal difference by beating Milan 2-1 in the last match before the forced break.
But the 47-year-old revealed that the best moment so far came in the 3-2 defeat to Lazio and it makes him believe that the Rossoblu will stay up.
“The applause from the fans after the match against Lazio, made me realise that the people were starting to appreciate our philosophy,” he said. “It demonstrated that football is not only results, but passion and recognition from the fans.
“I firmly believe that we will stay up.”
