“When you play against these teams, you need to be perfect,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia after a 2-1 loss.

“We put in a great performance and it makes us angry that we didn’t get anything to show for it. I am convinced this growing consistency in performances will eventually lead to consistent results.

“I chose Adrian Stoian rather than Raffaele Palladino because the latter is one yellow card away from suspension and Stoian looked good during training this week.

“It is our ambition to get points against any opponent and I am happy with our approach. The lads train with effort and know every Sunday is going to be a battle, but we’re also working on the details.

“Now the game with Pescara is going to be extremely important and we’ll try to win it. For the last eight or nine matches we’ve had a precise identity and can compete against anyone.

“I want the lads to know they can earn points even against the big clubs and today we almost did it.”
