“These are wonderful emotions and sensations, as being able to face players who until now we could only see on television makes us very proud.

“We must have awareness, courage and humility. It’s essential to run efficiently and with purpose so we can have the right energy to contrast Roma.”

Paulinho is the man to watch in attack, while Francesco Bardi, Alfred Duncan and Ibrahima Mbaye are on loan from Inter.

“Last season we played a certain style of football and want to take an attacking approach in the top flight, trying to cause problems for our opponents. The objective was promotion, now it is to have at least three teams below us in the table.”

Livorno squad for Roma: Mazzoni, Aldegani, Bardi; Bernardini, Ceccherini, Lambrughi, Mbaye, Emerson, Piccini, Decarli, Gemiti, Valentini; Luci, Benassi, Duncan, Bartolini, Belingheri, Greco, Schiattarella; Dionisi, Paulinho, Biasci
