Neymar praises Marco Verratti after PSG’s win against Real Madrid: ‘One of the best midfielders I’ve ever played with along with Xavi and Iniesta.’
The Italy international was one of the best players on the pitch at the Parc des Princes in the Ligue 1 giants’ win over Real Madrid last night.
The former Pescara man bossed the midfield, completing 92% of passes. He was praised by his teammate Neymar at the end of the match.
“I already knew he was an excellent player, but I hadn’t realized that he was so spectacular,” the Brazilian star said, as quoted by Sky Sport Italia.
“He is a genius, one of the best midfielders I’ve ever played with along with Xavi and Andres Iniesta.”
Verratti joined PSG from Pescara in 2012 before even making his Serie A debut. He had gained promotion to Italy’s top flight in the previous campaign in a team coached by Zdenek Zeman and with Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne as his teammates.
The Italy international has won 27 trophies in Paris and was part of the Azzurri squad that conquered the Euros last summer. His contract in Paris expires in June 2024.
