New Juventus chief Maurizio Scanavino spoke to the squad today, confirms coach Max Allegri. ‘He said Juve are Juve and our ambitions will never change.’

The Bianconeri played at the Allianz Juventus Stadium in Turin with a 1-0 friendly victory over Croatian side Rijeka, sealed by a Moise Kean goal.

It was also the opportunity for new director general Scanavino to have his first real conversation with the squad since taking over.

He was appointed after the entire board of directors resigned, starting from President Andrea Agnelli, during the investigation into potential financial irregularities.

“I spoke to the new director general Scanavino today, who introduced himself to the team and the staff,” Allegri told Tuttomercatoweb.

“He said few words, but the right ones. He reaffirmed that Juventus are always Juventus, so our plans and ambitions do not change and will never change.

“We can control Juve’s destiny on the field and that is what we will work on. Juventus are part of one of the strongest industrial groups in the world, while the passion of the owners is infinite and that is an added responsibility for us. I have never been worried.”

Last season was the first time in a decade that the Old Lady has finished completely empty-handed and a repeat will not be accepted.

“I’ve been part of Juventus for 10 years. I can assure you that in 125 years of this club, there has never been someone who lacked the ambition to win,” added Allegri.

“Our plans are always aiming for the maximum and that was confirmed today.”

There were reports that with so many figures leaving the club, Allegri would take on even more power when it comes to the transfer strategy.

“We always decided together. There’s Federico Cherubini, there are the scouts, we all evaluate the market together. The team is momentarily all set with these 26, some youngsters might be leaving, on the rest we are aligned and united in every area.”
