Sino-Europe Sports is a consortium which has agreed to buy the Rossoneri from Silvio Berlusconi, but the deal has been beset by delays.

Yesterday it was confirmed that the deal won’t be done until March, and it’s still not clear who is providing the funding for the group.

MP & Silva sells sporting rights for television across the world – including Milan TV and Serie A – and Losch was asked about China and the government’s plans for football.

“The plan is to focus on academies,” the CEO revealed.

“They have to start producing young players. The goal is to build a competitive national team over time, which can eventually win the World Cup.

“A nation with one-and-a-half billion people must do it.

“Chinese ownership of West Bromwich Albion? In England, the football clubs are almost always profitable. If you buy a Championship club and take it to the Premier League, you quadruple revenues.

“Of course, with foreign ownership there are risks, because they aren’t all reliable, but the Chinese groups – and I’d use Suning as an example – are very serious.

“Sino-Europe Sports? I’ve never heard of them.

“Not even President Li Yonghong? No, but I’m not a Chinese manager. I know Suning, the group that took over Inter, but I have no information on Milan.”
