During his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan and Italy legend Alessandro Nesta urged RedBird Capital Partners to ‘invest more money’ in new signings: ‘You can’t work miracles every season.’

The Rossoneri will face Tottenham in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 on Wednesday and the ex-Italian defender previewed the North London meeting with Gazzetta.

He also spoke about Milan’s transfer strategies which have been affected by a relatively low transfer budget over the last few seasons.

Last summer, the defending Serie A giants only had €50m available for new purchases.

“Milan have had many problems this season. A lot of injuries and new players haven’t done well,” said Nesta.

“You can’t work miracles every season. The budget is reduced and you can’t always buy players like Leao and Theo. It’s normal to make mistakes. The owners should invest more, knowing that what they spend would be repaid.”
