The veteran defender left in the summer when his contract expired and has begun a new chapter of his career at Montreal Impact.

According to Sport Mediaset, Vice-President Adriano Galliani is eager to get Nesta back at San Siro for three months while the MLS is on its winter break.

It would not be the first time such a deal has been struck, as David Beckham used his time off from LA Galaxy to play for Milan, while Thierry Henry did the same with NY Red Bulls and Arsenal.

However, only a few weeks ago Nesta gave an interview in which he assured there would be no close season return to Serie A.

“I have already booked my vacation!”
