New Milan stopper Bartosz Salamon has admitted to an admiration for club legend Alessandro Nesta.

The Polish youngster, 21, was presented to the media this afternoon following his transfer deadline day switch from Brescia last week.

“I’ve been inspired by Nesta, a player who I have always liked,” stated Salamon. “However, don’t say that I’m similar to him…

“I was a midfielder at the start of my career, but in the last two years I have improved defensively and that’s why I have become a defender.

“I don’t really have an idol. I used to look closely at midfielders, but now I watch defenders.”

Salamon, who will wear the No 14 shirt, has admitted that he was a little surprised to complete his San Siro switch.

“On the evening of January 30, I thought I’d be staying at Brescia,” he explained. “The day after I got a call where I was told to head for Milan’s HQ to sign. It all happened very quickly.”

Nesta left Milan at the end of the last campaign after a decade with the Diavolo.
