“It’s absurd to even think about postponing matches,” Nedved told Tuttosport.

“We have to be attentive, and have the maximum security, but we have to play. It’s important because it’s sends a positive signal, and stopping would be a negative signal.

“We have to play, we can’t think about postponing the event or moving it. It would be foolish, and it would be a defeat.

“We play for the fans, and to entertain the people. We have to keep and preserve as much normality as possible.

“Of course, I’m convinced that there will be the utmost alertness and security, I believe the authorities will come up with a plan to make sure there’s no risk.

“I’m convinced that this summer will be a great European Championships, great football, and great entertainment for the people.

“In safety.”

Nedved played in three European Championships, helping the Czech Republic to the semi-finals in 1996 and 2004.
