Victor Osimhen has become a talismanic figure for Napoli with his now-iconic protective face mask, which he lost whilst on international duty recently.

The Partenopei striker began wearing the mask following a collision with Milan Skriniar during an Inter-Napoli match in November 2021, which left him with multiple compound fractures to his left orbital and cheekbone.

When Osimhen returned to the pitch in January 2022, he was wearing a protective face mask, which he would remove with joy when celebrating a goal. It’s become a signature part of the striker’s look and tributes to the Nigerian, ranging from cakes to Easter eggs, now feature the mask.

As highlighted by Calciomercato.com, Osimhen lost his protective face mask whilst on international duty with Nigeria, realising he no longer had it after returning to Naples.

The orthopaedic staff who made the mask will design a new one quickly, wanting to give it to the striker as soon as possible. It won’t be ready in time for the upcoming match with Milan, so he’ll have to use an older mask in that game.
