Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti reveals Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will miss tomorrow’s derby against Salernitana.

The Georgia international had been ruled out of Napoli’s Coppa Italia match against Cremonese on Tuesday due to flu and hasn’t yet recovered.

“He won’t travel with the team, he has a fever and the doctor had to give him medicines for his symptoms,” Spalletti said at a press conference on Friday.

The Partenopei were knocked out of the Coppa Italia Round of 16 on Tuesday, losing on penalties against Davide Ballardini’s Cremonese, the only team with no victories in Serie A this season.

“It wasn’t pleasant,” admitted Spalletti. “But we haven’t been affected and I expect a reaction on a tough pitch. We’ll play for something important and we are looking forward to kick-off.”

Napoli ultras have been banned from travelling for away games following incidents involving them and Roma ultras on the A1 motorway last week. The Giallorossi die-hard supporters have faced the same punishment.

“Everyone is important at this moment, especially our fans. We all have to behave in a certain way to respect the city’s history, and when it doesn’t happen, we have to face the consequences,” admitted Spalletti.

“I don’t know if this is a fair punishment, I don’t know the rules, I am sorry that they [ultras] won’t be supporting us.”
