The newspaper reported today that the striker is furious with the Partenopei, and isn’t returning calls from President Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Higuain’s agent has already announced that no renewal will be signed with the Vesuviani, and Juventus are believed to be interested.

However, the club has strongly denied that their star striker is refusing to speak with the President.

“Napoli read with amazement as Tuttosport wrote today, without following the journalistic rules which provide for verification of sources, that President De Laurentiis had made 'empty' calls to Gonzalo Higuain who is 'not responding'," a statement on the Partenopei’s official website began.

“This ‘news’ obviously doesn’t correspond to the truth and it seems truly incredible that a title which is part of an entrepreneurial group led by Roberto Amodei could degrade itself with such low-level gossip without confirmation from at least one of the two parties.

“If someone says that Higuain is receiving calls from De Laurentiis and is not answering those calls, a good journalist should, by professional obligation, check with De Laurentiis to see if this ‘news’ corresponds to reality.

“This never happened and in fact this doesn’t correspond with the truth.”
