Dani Osvaldo is another alternative for Napoli to replace injured Arkadiusz Milik, but Maurizio Sarri seems intent on a tactical revolution.

Milik tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during last night’s World Cup qualifier between Poland and Denmark.

He will be in Rome this afternoon for further tests and likely surgery that will keep him out of action for four months.

Now Napoli are desperately trying to find a solution to losing their top scorer, who got seven goals in nine games.

Manolo Gabbiadini is not really a centre-forward and often struggled in that role.

The Partenopei can sign players who are out of contract and the latest option is Daniel Pablo Osvaldo, who had already been linked with Napoli in recent years.

The troubled Italo-Argentine striker had been close to a Serie A return this summer for Chievo or Pescara, but turned down a move so he could focus on his music.

Federico Macheda has also been mentioned, but the former Manchester United and Cardiff City player knows nothing of it.

“At the moment nobody from Napoli has called me, but I don’t know what could happen over the next few days,” agent Donato Di Campli told CalcioNapoli24.it.

Ex-Lazio striker Miroslav Klose was mentioned as another possible candidate.

The options open up in the January transfer window, most notably an early recall from his Udinese loan for Duvan Zapata and a €25m offer for Genoa centre-forward Leonardo Pavoletti.

In the meantime, Coach Sarri seems intent on staging a tactical revolution to make up for Milik’s absence.

He has already tested Callejon as a False 9 during matches this season and could take the step of using him there from the start in next weekend’s Serie A showdown with Roma.

Lorenzo Insigne and Dries Mertens would provide width to the 4-3-3 formation.
