Napoli confirmed the rumours that they had planned a different kit for each player in the squad, but were not allowed to wear it in Serie A, so it was debuted during the Scudetto celebrations.

As of last season, the Partenopei have done without a kit sponsor, effectively producing their own jerseys, shorts, socks and outerwear.

This has allowed them to make numerous special edition kits, for example with Christmas and Halloween themes, that could be worn for a couple of games and sold to collectors.

It had been reported President Aurelio De Laurentiis wanted to design individualised jerseys, so a completely different shirt for each player that has their own image on the front.

However, the Lega Serie A and UEFA said this was absolutely not possible to use in match situations, as it would cause confusion.

It seems the rumour was true, because De Laurentiis presented them worn by each player during this evening’s Scudetto celebrations.

They will therefore be put on sale, but cannot be worn during a match.
