After two draws, Napoli have finally won a pre-season friendly at their Castel di Sangro retreat, beating Girona 3-1.

Luciano Spalletti’s side faced off against Adana Demirspor and Mallorca last week, drawing the former 2-2 and the latter 1-1.

The club have had an interesting summer transfer window and fans are uncertain how to feel heading into the upcoming season, saying goodbye to favourites like Kalidou Koulibaly and Dries Mertens, but picking up talents like Kim Min-Jae and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Napoli took the lead against Girona in the first half of today’s friendly following a David Lopez own goal. Valentín Castellanos netted the equaliser in the second half, but Napoli continued to push and eventually found an advantage in the 88th minute thanks to Andrea Petagna. They secured their win in the 80th minute after a Kvaratskhelia penalty.

Napoli’s final pre-season friendly is against Espanyol on August 6, with their Serie A season kicking off on August 15 against Hellas Verona.
