Maurizio Sarri insists Napoli are not yet stronger without Gonzalo Higuain and has urged fans to be “patient” with their new faces.

Higuain’s controversial sale to Juventus saw Napoli lose almost a half of their goal tally from last season, and while Arkadiusz Milik has shown signs of striking up a partnership with the Partenopei’s existing forwards, Sarri was keen to play down the Pole’s promising start.

“We had a transfer campaign of prospection, and you have to see this prospection in terms of how much it’ll cost us in the short term.” the Coach told Mediaset Premium.

“We signed quality players but very young ones, and it’ll take patience to wait for them.

“We’ll see if in we can remain competitive in the meantime, but it was certainly a recruitment drive that secured a bright future for Napoli.

“Unfortunately [Milik’ start] is a projection made after two games, and it has no meaning.

“The reality is that the team’s overall value has increased, and when they’re all fit, the squad will be stronger, but I don’t know if our absolute value has increased because Higuain, who scored 36 goals, is a heavy loss.”
