Napoli hope that they will soon be able to call peace upon an ongoing feud between its supporters and the club, particularly owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Certain sections of the Partenopei supporter base staged a protest in the 4-0 loss to Milan in Serie A last weekend, officially over the cost of Champions League ticket prices, but the rift goes further than that.

Some Napoli fans have been angered by De Laurentiis’ increased cooperation with the authorities clamping down on those who break rules, including bringing unauthorised flags, megaphones and pyrotechnics into the stadium.

Supporters were divided in the decision to protest against De Laurentiis during the Milan game, which led to brawls breaking out at the Stadio Maradona.

Commenting on the matter, Luciano Spaletti threatened to leave the bench if supporters continued to behave in a similar way in the Champions League game against the Rossoneri on Tuesday.

Napoli hope to put an end to the rift and consequently, will allow Ultras to bring their flags and drums into the ground for the game against Hellas Verona on Saturday.

Meanwhile on Thursday afternoon, De Laurentiis met with the head of the Italian interior ministry, the mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi and the heads of local police authorities to discuss safety plans for the city during Napoli’s impending title celebrations.
