Luciano Spalletti has threatened to walk away from Napoli if the supporters don’t get behind the team during the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final tie against Milan

During his post-match press conference after the 1-0 loss at San Siro on Wednesday evening, the 64-year-old was critical of the atmosphere the supporters created the last time the two sides met at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The Napoli coach claimed his side were ‘taken hostage’ by the supporters during the 4-0 loss to the Rossoneri in Serie A last weekend.

Spalletti told the press: “I don’t know what atmosphere to expect in the return leg but you can imagine how upset I was to see our stadium like that against Milan.

“We are winning the championship after 33 years of waiting. We were playing an important match and seeing that ‘tutti contro tutti’ is something I’ll never be able to understand and that I’ll always carry with me.

“If the same thing happens during the return leg, I’ll leave the bench and go home. Because it’s something inexplicable.

“The boys are sensitive to what is happening around them and against Milan at Maradona we played in an absurd atmosphere. We were taken hostage.”
