Napoli have decided the futures of a number of players whose contracts are expiring with the club, including Alex Meret and Dries Mertens.

The Partenopei are having a strong season under coach Luciano Spalletti, who is still firmly involved in the title race, and they know an important summer transfer window is needed if they want to keep up the momentum and continue their growth.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Napoli have clear plans regarding the expiring contracts of four players. Starting with Juan Jesus, the Campania side plan to extend his deal for another year after a strong campaign under Spalletti.

Things are different for Colombian goalkeeper David Ospina, who will leave the club at the end of the season. Both Lazio and Real Madrid are interested in signing him on a free transfer.

Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli will meet with Meret’s agents in the next few days to discuss his future; the Partenopei want to renew the Italian shot stopper’s contract, which is currently set to expire in 15 months. They’re prepared to guarantee him a starting role in order to confirm the renewal.

Finally there’s Mertens. The Napoli veteran would have to half his salary if he wants to stay with the club and it’s currently unclear if he’s willing to do that or not.
