Napoli have reportedly won the race to sign Pescara hitman Gianluca Lapadula on a four-year contract.

The Peruvian-Italian striker has been a sensation in Serie B this season, scoring 27 goals in 40 games, plus two in as many promotion play-off appearances.

According to Il Mattino newspaper, the 26-year-old has decided to join Napoli as Gonzalo Higuain’s understudy.

Juventus had been leading the pack, but Lapadula is already 26 years old and wanted to be guaranteed more first team football.
