Real Madrid have reportedly raised their asking price for James Rodriguez, in a potential blow to Napoli.

Napoli seemed to be on the right track for James, negotiating a two-year loan with an option to buy the midfielder.

However, Corriere del Mezzogiorno claims Madrid now want to sell the Colombian outright for €55m, as opposed to loaning him out again.

That would have prompted Partenopei chief Aurelio De Laurentiis to stop talks for now.

On the other hand, De Laurentiis is hoping the 27-year-old’s desire to move to the San Paolo will force Los Blancos into bringing down the price.

James recently returned from a two-year loan at Bayern Munich and has no future in the Spanish capital.
