Napoli have reportedly seen their offer for midfielder Gabri Veiga rejected, as Celta Vigo are demanding the full release clause be paid.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the proposal was worth circa €30m and failed to make a dent in the Spanish side’s resolve.

He would be seen as the ideal replacement for Piotr Zielinski, if the Poland international should be sold to a Saudi Pro League team.

Veiga has a €40m release clause in his contract and Celta Vigo are determined to hold any potential buyers to that sum.

The midfielder just turned 21 and is under contract with them until June 2026, having come up through the Celta Vigo academy.

Napoli are not the only interested party, because Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with an approach for Veiga.

It would give Veiga the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of Stanislav Lobotka, who Napoli purchased from Celta Vigo in January 2020 at a cost of €21m plus another €4m in performance-related bonuses.
