Former Inter President Massimo Moratti was ‘deeply disappointed’ by Romelu Lukaku’s behaviour talking to Juventus. ‘It’s better we don’t have someone like him.’

The centre-forward is still owned by Chelsea and spent last season on loan with the Nerazzurri, who had hoped to make the move permanent this summer.

However, just as they seemed close to an agreement, it was revealed that Lukaku was also in talks with their Serie A arch-rivals Juventus, so Inter abandoned the negotiations.

“Considering all he said and promised, all while he was talking to others, I didn’t like that and neither did any of the Inter fans,” Moratti told Notizie.com.

“I was left deeply disappointed by his attitude. It’s better we don’t have someone like him at Inter, that is not how you behave.”

Lukaku is currently still waiting for Juventus to reach an agreement with Chelsea on the transfer fee, which would be in the region of €35-40m.

Moratti confessed last season that if he had still been in charge of the club, he would’ve “made the mistake” of sacking coach Simone Inzaghi.

The campaign was turned around, winning the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana, above all reaching the Final of the Champions League against Manchester City.

“Considering the history of the club, Inter must challenge every season to win the Scudetto, but I think this year especially they have to get the title,” added Moratti.

“It seems to me that we have everything we need to do well and win. I see us on the same level as Napoli, but we must do more. I trust Inzaghi, he makes the team play well and is a fine coach.”

Inter finished third in Serie A last season, although it would’ve been fourth had Juventus not been docked 10 points over financial irregularities.
